Three Ingredient Overnight Steel Cut Oats

  1. In a medium saucepan, pour in the 4 cups water. Turn the heat to high and bring the water to a boil.
  2. When the water comes to a full boil, pour in the steel cut oats and add the salt, cinnamon and anise pod. Stir and let the oats cook for 1 minute.
  3. After one minute, turn off the heat, give the oats a quick stir, cover and then let them sit out overnight.
  4. In the morning uncover the oats and turn the heat onto medium low.
  5. Stir occasionally until the oats are heated through. If there is any water in the pan left it will thicken with the oats as they heat through.
  6. Top with any sweetness you like, fresh fruit and nuts.
