Bon Bon Delights
- 1-1/2 cup All-purpose Flour
- 1/2 cups Butter, Softened
- 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 2 Tablespoons Milk
- 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
- Almond Paste, Malted Milk Balls, Candied Cherries, Macademia Nuts And/or Dried Apricots
- FOR THE GLAZE:
- 1 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoons Almond Extract
- 5 Tablespoons Milk
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, beat flour, butter, the 1/2 cup powdered sugar, milk and vanilla on medium speed until dough holds together. Have handy your almond paste, malted milk balls, nuts and/or dried fruit (cut into dime-sized pieces).
- Make one inch balls with the dough and form them around a piece of the candy or fruit. Place one inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown. Remove from the cookie sheet to a rack and cool completely.
- While the cookies are baking, mix with a whisk or fork the remaining glaze ingredients (powdered sugar, almond extract and milk). You can then portion out the glaze into 2 or 3 small glass bowls and color the glaze. (I like pastel colors). Save a small amount of white glaze for the topping.
- When cookies are totally cool, dip the top of each one into the glaze. Using a pastry bag, (or your finger!) drizzle a bit of the plain white glaze over the top of each cookie. Have fun! These freeze very well and are easily doubled or tripled.
