Traditional Italian Bolognese Sauce
- 1 Tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 6 ounces, weight Pork Sausage, Sliced, Chopped
- 1 cup Onion, Chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic, Minced
- 2 cans (28 Oz. Size) Crushed Tomatoes
- 1 cup Water
- 2 teaspoons Dried Fennel Seed
- 2 teaspoons Dried Basil
- 2 teaspoons Salt
- 2 teaspoons Pepper
- 2 teaspoons Dried Parsley
- 1. In a Dutch oven or large pot, heat oil on medium heat and add pork sausage.
- 2. Cook sausage until golden brown, then add onion and garlic. Saute onion until translucent.
- 3. Add crushed tomatoes, water and seasonings and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour.
- 4. If the sauce is too thick, add more water. If it's too thin for your liking, add some tomato paste.
- 5. Keep refrigerated or freeze in an airtight container.
