Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies
- 1 cup Butter
- 6 ounces, weight Cream Cheese
- 1-1/3 cup Sugar
- 2 whole Eggs
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla
- 1/2 teaspoons Almond Extract
- 4 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
- Colored Sprinkles Or Decorations
- In a large mixing bowl, combine butter and cream cheese. Beat until well blended. Add sugar, eggs, and extracts. Beat well. Stir in flour and baking powder.
- Form into a ball and chill for 2 hours. (If I am in a hurry or don't feel like waiting around for 2 hours, I place the dough in the freezer for about 20 minutes. It works just as well.)
- Heat oven to 350u0b0F.
- Divide dough into quarters. Work with one quarter at a time, keeping the rest refrigerated. Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place onto ungreased baking sheet.
- Decorate and bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on rack and store. We like to decorate these cookies with sprinkles and decorations before baking. However, if you prefer a frosted sugar cookie, simply let cool and decorate.
- This is a kid-friendly recipe and makes 4 dozen cookies.
