Ham And Bean Soup
- 1 lb. Great Northern beans
- 6 c. water
- 1 1/2 lb. cubed, cooked ham
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. dried thyme
- 1/2 tsp. dried parsley
- 4 peppercorns
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 2 c. water
- 4 potatoes, cubed
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 lb. hamburger, browned and drained
- 2 cans chicken broth or homemade broth
- 2 c. water
- 1 c. canned tomatoes (crushed is best)
- vegetables of your choice
- pasta or rice (if you wish)
- seasonings (you can use fresh cilantro or parsley as well as other herbs)
- Combine.
- Bring to a boil.
- Reduce to a simmer until vegetables are done.
- Serve with French bread.
