Chocolate Dumplings
- 1 whole Batch Of Your Favorite Biscuit Dough Or Refrigerated Biscuit Dough (16 Oz. Size)
- 1 quart Whole Milk
- 2 whole Large Eggs, Beaten
- 1 cup White Granulated Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Cocoa
- 1/4 cups Cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- On a floured surface roll out dough or biscuits to approximately 1/4 inch thick and cut into approximately 1"x 1" dumplings.
- In a medium or large pot over medium heat bring milk to a simmer. In a large bowl beat eggs, sugar and cocoa until sugar is dissolved and mixture is thickened. Mix in cornstarch and mix until completely smooth. Slowly add some milk to the egg/sugar mixture, then transfer the egg mixture into the sauce pan and bring to a boil over medium heat. Add dumplings stirring constantly for 5-7 minutes or until dumplings are done.
- Remove from heat and add vanilla, stir to incorporate.
- Serve warm, cool or cold.
- This is an "original" recipe handed down from my Grandmother to my Mother to me.
