Pear Crisp

  1. Preheat oven to 375u0b0.
  2. Half and core pears; slice about 1/2 inch thick.
  3. Toss with lemon juice.
  4. Combine pears and dried fruit in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish or shallow casserole of similar size. In a medium bowl, mix butter and flour with a fork or your fingers until crumbly.
  5. Mix in rolled oats, brown sugar, nuts and spices.
  6. Sprinkle mixture evenly over fruit and press down lightly.
  7. Bake 20 - 25 minutes until pears are tender.
  8. (Check with the tip of a sharp knife or a pick.)
  9. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, creme fraiche or whipped cream, if desired.
  10. Makes 6 to 8 servings.
