Naan
- 1 package Dry Active Yeast (.25 Ounce)
- 1 cup Warm Water
- 1/4 cups White Sugar
- 3 Tablespoons Milk
- 1 whole Egg, Beaten
- 2-1/4 teaspoons Salt
- 4-1/2 cups Bread Flour
- 2 teaspoons Minced Garlic
- 1/4 cups Melted Butter
- 1.) In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand about 10 minutes.
- 2.) Stir in sugar, milk, egg, salt, and enough flour to make a soft dough.
- 3.) On a lightly floured surface, knead dough for 6 to 8 minutes.
- 4.) Generously oil a large mixing bowl, and place dough in bowl. Cover bowl with a damp cloth, and set aside to rise.
- 5.) Let dough rise for 1 hour. The amount of dough should double in volume.
- 5.) Knead garlic into dough after it has risen, then pinch off small handfuls of dough. Roll dough into 1 inch balls, and place on a tray or plate.
- 7.) Cover tray/plate with a towel, and allow to rise 30 minutes, or until doubled in size.
- 8.) Butter a large frying pan, and heat pan on stove at medium to high heat.
- 9.) Lightly flatten one ball of dough and place on greased pan. Cook for 2 minutes, or until naan is puffy and lightly browned.
- 10.) Brush uncooked side of dough with butter, and flip over.
- 11.) Brush cooked side of dough with butter, and cook until browned, another 2 to 3 minutes.
- 12.) Remove from grill, and repeat until all of the dough balls are prepared.
- 13.) Use as bread, or eat plain. It's delicious either way!
