Spice Bars
- FOR THE CAKE:
- 1/2 cups Salted Butter
- 1-1/2 cup White Sugar
- 1/2 teaspoons Vanilla
- 2 Eggs
- 2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1-1/2 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice
- 1-1/4 cup Buttermilk, Sour Milk, Or Just Milk
- FOR THE CREAM CHEESE SWIRL:
- 8 ounces, weight Cream Cheese, Softened
- 1/2 cups White Sugar
- 1 Egg White
- 1-1/2 cup Milk Chocolate Chips
- 1. Make the cake: Beat together butter and sugar on high for about 30 seconds, until combined. Add vanilla and eggs, one at a time.
- 2. Stir together the dry ingredients. Then in 3 alternating additions each, add the flour mixture and the milk. (So add a little milk, then a little flour, then a little milk, then a little flour, etc).
- 3. Pour into a greased jelly roll pan. Now prepare the cream cheese swirl. Beat together the cream cheese, sugar, and egg white until combined. With a spoon or a pastry bag, drizzle the cream cheese around the cake. Then take a knife and swirl it around (not to much though, it'll start to mix in). Then sprinkle with the chocolate chips.
- 4. Bake in a 350u0b0F oven, for about 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool, slice, and serve.
