Stuffed Cabbage(Verze Ripiene Al Forno)
- 1 large head cabbage
- boiling water
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1 lb. ground round
- 1 onion, chopped fine
- 1 c. cooked rice
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 15 wooden toothpicks
- 1/2 c. water
- salt and pepper to taste
- Remove core from cabbage and cover cabbage with boiling water. Let stand
- 10
- minutes.
- Remove as many cabbage leaves as possible (15).
- Let
- leaves
- stay
- in
- boiling
- water until filling is prepared.
- In
- frying
- pan
- heat
- oil and add beef. Brown beef and chopped
- onion.
- Drain all grease from pan, and mix beef with
- rice,
- eggs,
- salt, pepper, Parmesan cheese and 1/3 cup tomato sauce.
- Mix well.
