Apple Fries Fritter-Style
- 1 whole Large Apple, Peeled, Cored And Cut Into Your Preferred French Fry Thickness
- 1 Tablespoon Flour
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Plus, 1/2 Teaspoon
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 1 cup Complete Pancake Mix (such As Bisquik Or Aunt Jemima)
- 1 cup Water, Plus More For Thinning If Necessary
- 1/2 cups Powdered Sugar
- 3 teaspoons Milk
- Oil, For Frying
- In a large heavy bottom saucepan heat enough oil to cover a single layer of fries to 350 F.
- Place sliced apples in a medium bowl. Toss with flour, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and sugar. Set aside.
- In a medium sized bowl mix pancake mix and water until lumps are gone. You want it on the thinner side so add more water 1 teaspoon at a time if necessary.
- Mix powdered sugar, remaining cinnamon and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside. This will be your glaze.
- When oil has come to temperature dip apple slices into prepared pancake batter. Shake excess batter off before gently dropping them into the oil in a single layer.
- As they turn a golden brown gently turn them and cook the other side. The fries should be done in 3-4 minutes. Remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Repeat frying the rest if you didn't cook them all in the first batch.
- Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar while they are hot. Drizzle them with glaze as you serve them.
