Gingerbread Hot Chocolate
- 2 cups Water
- 1-1/2 stick Cinnamon
- 4 whole Allspice Berries
- 6 whole Cloves
- 5 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
- 1 piece (1 1/2 Inch Size) Fresh Ginger, Peeled And Sliced
- 1 cup Whipping Cream
- 2 Tablespoons Powdered Sugar
- 2 cups Milk
- 4 Tablespoons Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- In a medium sauce pan, combine water, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, sugar and ginger. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer for 7-10 minutes or until syrup is infused with spices.
- Meanwhile, whip cream with powdered sugar and set aside.
- Taste syrup and if you are happy with the taste, add milk and cocoa powder. Whisk until well combined. Bring to a boil and cook for about a minute. Turn off and remove spices, either with a spoon or strain the drink through a cheesecloth.
- Pour into mugs and serve topped with whipped cream, gingerbread sugar (mix gingerbread spice with superfine sugar) and/or gingerbread syrup.
