German Hazelnut Christmas Cookies
- 7 ounces, weight Butter
- 3 ounces, weight Sugar
- 1 whole Egg Yolk
- 6 ounces, weight Hazelnut Flour Or Ground Hazelnuts
- 8-3/4 ounces, weight All-purpose Flour
- Preheat oven to 375u0b0F (190u0b0C).
- Cream together butter, sugar and egg yolk until well combined.
- Add the hazelnut and regular flour, mix well and bring the mixture together into a ball. Roll out mixture on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch (3mm to 4mm) thick and cut with cutters or into shapes.
- Place cut shapes onto a baking sheet tray and bake for approximately 8-10 minutes until lightly brown. If they go a bit browner they will still taste fine, they will just be a bit more brittle.
- Decorate as desired.
- Note: A simple icing you can use is confectioners/icing sugar mixed with water in a 4:1 ratio.
