Doris' Lasagna
- 12 oz. lasagna noodles
- 2 lb. ground beef
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 4 or 5 cloves garlic, crushed
- 3 cans whole tomatoes
- 1 can tomato paste (small size)
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 3 Tbsp. dried oregano leaves
- 3 Tbsp. dried basil leaves
- 1 small bay leaf
- 1/3 tsp. crushed red pepper
- salt and pepper to taste
- 12 oz. Mozzarella cheese
- 3/4 c. Parmesan cheese, freshly grated
- Brown beef and onions; add rest of ingredients and simmer for at least 4 hours.
- Cook noodles according to package directions, adding 2 tablespoons olive oil to the water.
- To assemble, put a little sauce in the bottom of the baking dish; lay noodles on top and top with more sauce, Mozzarella and a sprinkling of Parmesan. Continue layering, ending with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake in a 350u0b0 oven for 1 hour or until cheese is lightly browned and bubbly.
