Old Fashioned Sugar Cookies
- 1 c. margarine
- 2 c. sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. lemon extract
- Cream margarine thoroughly.
- Add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs and beat thoroughly. Sift flour once; measure.
- Add baking powder and salt and sift together 3 times.
- Add flour mixture and mix thoroughly.
- Add flavoring.
- Chill.
- Roll dough very thin and cut into fancy shapes with floured cutter.
- Decorate tops of cookies with sugar, colored candies, finely powdered walnuts, almonds, whole blanched almonds and raisins.
- Bake on well greased cookie sheets or on bottom of inverted pans in a hot oven (400u0b0) 6 minutes or until done.
- Watch that they do not burn!
- Makes about 10 dozen 3-inch cookies.
