Devil’S Food Cake
- 1 stick Unsalted Butter, Softened
- 2 cups Sugar
- 2 whole Eggs
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
- 1/2 cups Sour Milk
- 2 cups Flour
- 4 Tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1/8 teaspoons Baking Powder
- 1 cup Boiling Water
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour two 8" cake pans. This recipe works great for cupcakes, too.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in eggs one at a time until combined. Add in vanilla and sour milk, mix well. Scrape down sides as needed.
- With the mixer on low, add in half of the flour, then boiling water and the remaining flour. Mix well.
- Pour into pans and bake for 30 minutes. Bake cupcakes for 15 minutes.
- Frost with vanilla buttercream.
