Chocolate Covered Preztels

  1. Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Melt your chocolate chips and shortening slowly in the microwave using short 30 second bursts.
  2. Pour melted, chocolate mixture into a disposable paper cup for easy dunking. Dunk your pretzel rods as deep as you'd like and lay them on the wax paper.
  3. Once all the pretzels have been dipped, you can sprinkle them with the nuts, coconut, sprinkles or mini M&M's or whatever your creative brain comes up with! Chill them in the fridge until the chocolate has set.
  4. While the chocolate is setting, get your other chocolate and 1 tsp. of shortening melted and pour into a pastry bag with a small round tip or a Ziploc baggie with one of the corners barely snipped.
  5. Drizzle a contrasting white chocolate, butterscotch or peanut butter swirl on each pretzel to create a layered look. This also helps keep your toppings affixed.
  6. Chill off in fridge again.
  7. Aren't they cuuuuuuuuuute?
  8. You can get cello treat bags to package them in and tie with a curling ribbon. They make a great party favor or treat!
