Maple Nut Twist
- 1 package (16 ounces) hot roll mix
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3/4 cup warm water (120u0b0 to 130u0b0)
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon maple flavoring
- 1-1/2 cups finely chopped walnuts
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 3 teaspoons maple flavoring
- 1/3 cup butter, melted
- In a large bowl, combine the contents of roll mix and yeast packets with sugar. Stir in water, butter, egg and maple flavoring; mix well.
- Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top. Cover with plastic wrap; let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Combine first five filling ingredients in a small bowl; set aside. Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into thirds.
- Roll one portion of dough into a 12-in. circle; transfer to a greased 12-in. pizza pan. Brush with a third of the butter; sprinkle with a third of the filling. Repeat two times with the remaining dough, butter and filling, placing each circle of dough over the previous layer. Pinch outer edges to seal.
- Place a small glass at the center of the dough. With scissors, cut from the outside edge to the glass to form 16 wedges. Remove glass; twist each wedge three times. Cover with plastic wrap coated with cooking spray; let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375u0b0. Uncover dough. Bake 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan to a wire rack.
