Spanish Rice With Beef
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. margarine
- 1 1/4 c. uncooked rice
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
- 1 (6 oz.) can mushroom sauce
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 can mushroom stems and pieces
- 1/4 tsp. oregano, chili powder and pepper
- 1 tsp. salt
- Heat butter in frying pan over medium heat.
- Add rice and saute along with onion and garlic until golden. Add meat and cook, stirring, until meat is browned and crumbly.
- Add tomatoes and then liquid, mushroom sauce, tomato sauce, mushrooms and their liquid, oregano, chili powder, pepper and salt.
- Mix well.
- Cover and simmer over low heat, stirring once or twice for 1 hour or until rice is tender.
- Serves 6.
