Kentucky Stack Cake

  1. Sift
  2. together
  3. dry
  4. ingredients;
  5. set
  6. aside.
  7. Cream together
  8. sugar
  9. and
  10. shortening
  11. until light and fluffy.
  12. Add eggs,
  13. onett a
  14. time, beating well after each addition.
  15. Add dry ingredients
  16. and
  17. buttermilk, alternately to creamed mixture, beating
  18. well
  19. after each addition, starting and ending with
  20. the dry ingredients.
  21. Pour a very small amount of batter into several greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.
  22. Bake at
  23. 325u0b0 until done.
  24. Let layers cool.
  25. Stack layers on a cake plate,
  26. spreading cooked dried apples that have been seasoned to taste, between each layer.
  27. Yield: a very large stack cake.
