Cherry Pie

  1. Drain cherries, reserving juice (1 cup).
  2. Mix cherries and 1/2 cup sugar and set aside.
  3. Combine 3/4 cup sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and salt in a medium saucepan.
  4. Stir until all lumps are dissolved; gradually add cherry juice.
  5. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth and thick.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in cherries.
  7. Add margarine and almond flavoring.
  8. Pour into pie crust.
  9. Cover with top crust.
  10. You can butter top crust to make it brown better.
  11. Cut slits in top crust.
  12. Bake at 400u0b0 for 30 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.
