4-Alarm Chili
- 1 1/2 lb. hot Italian sausage
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 2 (15 oz.) cans kidney beans (undrained)
- 2 (15 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes
- 1 c. beer or beef broth
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder
- 2 Tbsp. diced jalapeno peppers (optional)
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- shredded Cheddar cheese
- sour cream
- green onions
- Cook crumbled sausage, onion and garlic in hot oil until sausage is no longer pink.
- Drain.
- Add remaining ingredients, except Cheddar cheese, sour cream and green onions.
- Simmer, uncovered, for 45 minutes.
- To serve, top each bowl of chili with Cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream and green onions.
- Makes 6 servings.
