Old Fashioned Irish Stew
- 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. monosodium glutamate
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 2 lb. stewing beef, cubed
- 1/4 c. butter
- 3 c. water
- 2 celery stalks, cut into inch pieces
- 1 bay leaf
- 12 small onions, peeled
- 6 medium carrots, scraped and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 3 potatoes, peeled and quartered
- Combine
- flour,
- salt,tepper and glutamate in a bowl. Coat meat with flour mixture.
- Melt butter; add meat, browned. Add water, celery and bay leaf. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat. Cover and
- simmer
- for
- 1
- 1/2
- hours or until meat is almost tender. Add remaining ingredients.tontinue cooking 1/2 hour or

- aretender.
- Yield:
- 6 to 8 servings.
