Greek Easter Cookies
- 1 c. butter or margarine
- 1/3 c. granulated sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp. brandy flavoring (if desired)
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 c. Gold Medal flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. cloves
- confectioners sugar
- Heat oven to 350u0b0 (moderate).
- Mix the first 5 ingredients together thoroughly.
- Measure flour by dipping method (or by sifting).
- Blend flour, baking powder and cloves; stir into butter mixture and mix well.
- Shape dough in small balls, about 3/4-inch in diameter, or in cylindrical shapes, formed in 2-inch long half moons.
- Place cookies on lightly greased baking sheet.
- Bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until cookies are set, but not browned.
- Let stand 2 minutes before removing from baking sheet.
- When cool, dust with confectioners sugar.
- (For a more authentic Greek cookie, omit ground cloves and place a whole clove in center of
- each cookie before baking.)
- Makes 8 dozen cookies.
