Chow Mein
- 2 lb. cubed pork
- 4 Tbsp. light soy sauce
- 6 c. water
- 6 chicken bouillon cubes
- 2 Tbsp. Chinese Bead molasses
- 2 c. sliced celery
- 2 c. sliced onions
- 1 can sliced water chestnuts
- 1 can bamboo shoots, sliced
- 1 can bean sprouts, drained
- 1 can mushrooms (or fresh)
- 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
- cornstarch (as needed)
- 1 large can Chinese noodles
- 1 c. rice, cooked (about 4 c.)
- Cook rice according to directions.
- Brown pork well; add soy sauce, water, bouillon cubes, sugar, molasses and mushroom juice. Simmer 20 minutes or until pork is done.
- Add celery, onion, bean sprouts, water chestnuts and bamboo shoots.
- Cook until vegetables just tender.
- Add mushrooms.
- Thicken with cornstarch.
- Serve over rice and noodles.
- Garnish with slivered almonds.
