Applesauce-Spice Squares
- 1/4 c. butter or margarine, softened
- 2/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
- 1 c. applesauce
- 1/2 c. raisins
- Browned Butter Frosting
- Cream butter.
- Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer.
- Add egg, beating well.
- Combine flour, soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice; add to creamed mixture alternately with applesauce, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
- Mix just until blended after each addition.
- Stir in raisins.
- Spoon batter into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 25 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Remove from oven; cool.
- Spread with Browned Butter Frosting.
- Cut into squares to serve.
- Yields 9 servings.
