Meat Crust Pie
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 c. grated onion
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
- 1 1/3 c. uncooked Minute rice
- 1/2 c. dry bread crumbs
- 1/4 c. green pepper
- 1/8 tsp. oregano
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. water
- 3/4 c. grated cheese
- 4 to 6 tomato slices
- Combine beef, bread crumbs, onions, green pepper, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt, seasonings, and 1/2 cup of the tomato sauce.
- Mix well and pat into bottom and sides of greased 9-inch pie plate. Combine remaining 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce, 1/2 teaspoon salt, water, rice and 1/2 cup of the cheese.
- Spoon mixture into meat shell.
- Cover and bake in 350u0b0 oven for 25 minutes.
- Top with tomato slices and remaining cheese.
- Bake, uncovered, 10 to 15 minutes longer.
- Makes 5 to 6 servings.
