Chile Relleno Pie
- 1 lb. hamburg
- 1 green pepper, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 (7 oz.) cans whole green chiles
- 1/2 lb. grated Monterey Jack cheese
- 1/2 lb. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 c. half & half
- 1 Tbsp. flour
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- Brown meat with peppers, onions, oregano, garlic, salt and pepper. Seed the chile peppers and spread on the bottom of a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish. Cover with meat mixture. Sprinkle cheeses on top. Combine eggs, cream and flour; pour on top. Bake at 375u0b0 for 45 minutes. Pour tomato sauce on top and bake additional 15 minutes. This pie is equally delicious without the beef.
