Sunny'S Baked Beans

  1. Soak beans overnight in hot water.
  2. Next morning, rinse and cover with hot water and parboil until blowing on a bean, the skin peels or tenderish to squeeze.
  3. I put a dab of butter in to help keep them from foaming over while parboiling.
  4. Last 5 minutes, put in 1/2 teaspoon baking soda and finish the parboil.
  5. Drain and rinse well.
  6. In bean pot or large casserole, put half the beans. Cover with water.
  7. Add sugar, dry mustard, molasses, onion and salt pork.
  8. Then add the rest of the beans.
  9. Bake in slow oven, 250u0b0 to 300u0b0, for 4 to 5 hours, covered.
  10. Last half hour, uncover to brown.
  11. Stir occasionally during cooking.
  12. Add more water as needed.
