Beef-Filled Macaroni Shells

  1. Cook macaroni shells as directed on package, using maximum cooking time.
  2. Drain, rinse with cool water.
  3. Arrange on paper towels to dry.
  4. While shells are cooking, cook ground beef and onion in a large skillet until done.
  5. Drain off fat.
  6. Stir in catsup, mustard, chili powder and garlic salt.
  7. Heat.
  8. Heat shortening to 365u0b0 and fry several shells at a time for about 2 minutes or until golden brown; turn once during frying.
  9. Drain on paper towels.
  10. As shells are fried, spoon about 1 tablespoon warm filling into each fried shell.
  11. Garnish with a sweet pickle slice. Serve warm.
  12. Makes 3 to 5 dozen appetizers.
