Blonde Brownies
- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 2/3 c. oleo or butter
- 2 c. packed, dark brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 (6 oz.) pkg. (1 c.) chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
- 1 2/3 c. chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
- 1 tsp. shortening
- Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
- Combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
- Beat oleo or butter in a large mixing bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed for 30 seconds. Add brown sugar and beat until well combined.
- Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
- Add the flour mixture to the beaten mixture. Beat at low speed just until combined.
- Stir in chocolate pieces and 1 cup nuts.
- Spread batter into pan.
- Sprinkle with remaining nuts.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 30 minutes.
