Apple Cinnamon Coffee Cake

• 1/2 c. butter, softened
• 1 c. sugar
• 1 1/4 c. brown sugar
• 2 2/3 c. flour
• 1/2 tsp. baking soda
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1/3 c. melted butter
• 2 c. peeled apple, chopped fine
• 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
• 1 c. buttermilk
• 2 eggs
• 2 tsp. vanilla
• 1/2 c. chopped nuts
• 1/3 c. flour
• 1 to 2 Tbsp. cinnamon
• 1 tsp. shortening
• 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate pieces

1. Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
2. Beat together 1/2 cup butter and sugar until well mixed.
3. Add eggs and vanilla.
4. Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt.
5. Add alternately to beaten mixture with buttermilk.
6. Fold in apples.
