Chocolate Fudge Cream Pie
- 1 pie shell, baked
- 1 1/3 c. white sugar
- 1/4 c. flour
- 1/4 c. cocoa
- 1 2/3 c. milk
- 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
- 1/2 c. pecans (optional)
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 egg whites
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/3 c. sugar
- Mix 1 1/3 cups sugar, flour and cocoa in a 2-quart saucepan. Gradually stir in milk.
- Cook and stir over medium heat until thick.
- Cook and stir over low heat 5 minutes.
- Stir a small amount of hot mixture into the egg yolks.
- Return egg-chocolate mixture into saucepan.
- Cook and stir until very thick.
- Take from heat.
- Stir in pecans, butter or margarine and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Cool 5 minutes.
- Spread in baked shell.
- Heat oven to 350u0b0.
