Raisin Spice Drops

  1. Pour enough boiling water over raisins to cover them.
  2. Cover and let stand 10 minutes.
  3. Beat shortening and sugar together until creamy.
  4. Add eggs; beat until fluffy.
  5. Drain raisins, reserving 1/2 cup liquid.
  6. Dissolve soda in this liquid.
  7. Sift together flour, salt and spices.
  8. Add to creamed mixture alternately with raisin liquid; blend well.
  9. Stir in raisins and oats.
  10. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets.
  11. Bake in preheated moderate oven at 350u0b0 for 12 to 15 minutes.
  12. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
