Chocolate Covered Apples
- 8 large Granny Smith apples, stems removed
- 8 wooden popsicle sticks
- 1 1/3 c. confectioners sugar
- 1/2 c. Hershey's baking cocoa
- 1/2 c. vegetable oil
- 1 c. Hershey's semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
- 2 c. chopped Hershey's vanilla milk chips (optional)
- nuts (optional)
- melted caramel (optional)
- Wash and dry apples.
- Insert popsicle stick into stem end of each apple.
- Place on waxed paper lined tray.
- Combine confectioners sugar, cocoa and oil in glass bowl; mix well.
- Add chocolate chips.
- Microwave on High for 1 minute; mix well. Microwave for 15 to 30 seconds if necessary to melt.
- Twirl apples in chocolate.
- Tap sticks on side of bowl to remove excess. Return apples to tray.
- Let stand 5 minutes.
- Roll in vanilla chips, nuts, chopped candy pieces or drizzle with melted caramel.
