Oat Wheat Bread
- 4 Tbsp. margarine
- 5 tsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. uncooked oatmeal
- 1/2 c. powdered milk
- 3/4 c. molasses
- 4 1/2 c. boiling water
- 2 pkg. active dry yeast
- 4 1/2 c. stone ground whole wheat flour
- 6 c. unbleached white flour
- Place the margarine, salt, oatmeal, powdered milk and most of the molasses in a large bowl.
- Add 4 cups of boiling water.
- Stir until the margarine has melted.
- Add yeast to remaining 1/2 cup of cooled water (105u0b0 to 155u0b0) to which a small amount of the molasses has been added.
- Add yeast mixture to oatmeal mixture.
- Stir in whole wheat and white flours.
- Add flour until dough is no longer sticky.
- Cover with towel.
- Let rise until doubled.
- Knead and shape into pans.
- Cover and let double again.
- Bake at 375u0b0 for about 40 minutes.
- Cool on rack.
