Pepper Steak
- 1/4 c. oil
- 3 cloves garlic, chopped
- 1 lb. tender steak, cut in thin strips
- 1 pkg. fresh mushrooms, sliced
- 3 bell peppers, cut in strips
- 6 to 7 green onions, chopped
- 8 oz. can bamboo shoots
- 10 1/2 oz. can beef broth
- 1/4 c. soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. m.s.g. (monosodium glutamate)
- 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1/2 tsp. Chinese 5 spice
- Heat wok or large skillet.
- Pour in oil and garlic.
- Cook garlic until brown and remove.
- Stir-fry meat 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add the mushrooms, bell peppers, green onions and bamboo shoots and stir-fry 7 to 8 minutes.
- Combine remaining ingredients together and pour over meat mixture.
- Cook 1 to 2 minutes until thick. Serve over hot rice.
- Serves 4 to 6.
