Lord Baltimore Cake

  1. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer.
  2. Add egg yolks, one at a time.
  3. Beat well after each addition.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  5. Mix just until blended after each addition. Stir in flavorings.
  6. Pour batter into 3 greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans.
  7. Bake at 350u0b0 for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pans 10 minutes.
  9. Remove from pans; cool completely.
  10. Frost.
