Broccoli-Cauliflower Casserole
- 1 pkg. (16-oz.) frozen broccoli cuts
- 1 pkg. (16-oz.) frozen cauliflower florets
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp. dried basil, crushed
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 2 pkg. (3-oz. each) cream cheese with chives, cut up
- 3/4 c. soft bread crumbs (about 1 slice of bread)
- 3 Tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine, melted
- Cook broccoli and cauliflower according to package directions.
- Drain well; place in large saucepan and set aside. Meanwhile, cook onion in the butter until tender but not brown. Stir in the flour, salt, garlic powder, basil and pepper. Add milk.
- Cook and stir till thickened and bubbly.
- Add cream cheese. Stir till cheese melts.
- Stir into vegetable mixture. Turn into a 2-quart casserole.
- Toss together bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, and the 2 tablespoons melted butter.
- Sprinkle over vegetable mixture. Bake, uncovered, in a 350u0b0 oven for 25 to 30 minutes or till heated through. Makes 12 servings.
