Soupe 'A L'Oignon Au Gratin(French Onion Soup With Cheese)

  1. Saute onions in butter until soft.
  2. Add sugar and nutmeg.
  3. Toss well.
  4. Cook down slightly until onions are a golden color.
  5. Add hot bouillon and bring to a boil.
  6. Add wine.
  7. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  8. Add salt if needed or to taste.
  9. Ladle soup into 6 ovenproof bowls or pots and top each with 1 piece of bread and grated cheese.
  10. Cook in preheated 300u0b0 oven for 10 minutes or under broiler until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  11. Serves 6.
