Dutch Kitchen Apple Pie
- 4 c. applesauce
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 2 (9-inch) pie shells
- 1/2 c. sour cream
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 c. powdered sugar
- 1 to 2 Tbsp. cream or milk
- In saucepan, mix applesauce, salt, flour, sugar and spices. Stir and cook over moderately low heat, about 15 to 20 minutes or until thickened.
- Cool to room temperature.
- Spoon filling into shell.
- Combine sour cream and vanilla.
- Spread over filling.
- Roll out pastry and put over pie.
- Seal edges and prick top.
- Bake at 400u0b0 for 35 minutes.
- Cool pie for 20 minutes.
- Mix powdered sugar and cream to a smooth paste.
- Glaze top crust.
- Serve warm or cold.
