Barbecued Spareribs
- 2 Tbsp. butter or oleo
- 2 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
- 1/4 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. ketchup
- ribs
- 3/4 c. chili sauce
- 1 Tbsp. celery seed
- 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. water
- Melt butter in saucepan and garlic; cook for 4 to 5 minutes. Blend mustard and sugar.
- Add to pan, along with remaining ingredients, except ribs.
- Bring to a boil.
- Salt ribs and place, bone side down, on grill over slow coals.
- Broil 20 minutes; turn and brown other side.
- Turn, meat side up, and broil 20 minutes longer.
- Brush meat side with sauce and continue to broil 20 to 30 minutes, until done.
- Baste occasionally.
- Brush sauce on both sides of ribs; broil 2 to 3 minutes for a fine finishing.
