Homemade Graham Nuts

  1. Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, salt, baking soda and cinnamon.
  3. Add the buttermilk and vanilla; mix well.
  4. Pour out onto an oiled 12 x 16-inch flat pan and spread evenly with a spatula.
  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the batter is firm, medium brown in color and shrinks from the sides of the pan.
  6. With a metal spatula, completely loosen the hot patty from the pan.
  7. Allow to cool on a rack for several hours or overnight.
  8. Preheat oven to 275u0b0.
  9. Break the patty into chunks and put through a meat grinder, using a coarse blade or pulse in a food processor until coarse crumbs are formed.
  10. Divide crumbs between two 12 x 16-inch pans.
  11. Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
  12. Let cool, then store in an airtight container.
  13. Serve as a cold cereal.
