Homemade Graham Nuts
- 3 1/2 c. graham flour (whole wheat)
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- Preheat oven to 350u0b0.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, salt, baking soda and cinnamon.
- Add the buttermilk and vanilla; mix well.
- Pour out onto an oiled 12 x 16-inch flat pan and spread evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until the batter is firm, medium brown in color and shrinks from the sides of the pan.
- With a metal spatula, completely loosen the hot patty from the pan.
- Allow to cool on a rack for several hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 275u0b0.
- Break the patty into chunks and put through a meat grinder, using a coarse blade or pulse in a food processor until coarse crumbs are formed.
- Divide crumbs between two 12 x 16-inch pans.
- Bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
- Let cool, then store in an airtight container.
- Serve as a cold cereal.
