Ginger Cookies

  1. Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Cream shortening and brown sugar.
  4. Add molasses and water.
  5. Mix well. Add the dry ingredients one cup at a time.
  6. Cover and chill one hour.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350u0b0.
  8. Sprinkle flour on countertop. Divide the dough into four sections.
  9. Roll out each section to 1/2-inch thick.
  10. Cut out circles with the cookie cutter.
  11. Lift the cookies onto a cookie sheet with a spatula.
  12. Put cookies 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.
  13. Bake 12 to 15 minutes.
  14. Remove cookies from cookie sheet to cool.
  15. Do not stack cookies or they will stick together.
