Pound Cake
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 2 sticks butter
- 2 3/4 c. sugar
- 6 eggs
- 3 c. plain flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. milk
- 1/3 tsp. almond flavoring
- 1/2 tsp. lemon flavoring
- 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
- Cream the shortening and butter.
- Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer until well blended.
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
- Stir in flavorings.
- Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
- Bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool in pan 10 minutes.
- Remove from pan; cool completely on a rack.
- Yields one 10-inch cake.
