Pound Cake

  1. Cream the shortening and butter.
  2. Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed of an electric mixer until well blended.
  3. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture.
  5. Stir in flavorings.
  6. Pour batter into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan.
  7. Bake at 350u0b0 for 1 hour, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  8. Cool in pan 10 minutes.
  9. Remove from pan; cool completely on a rack.
  10. Yields one 10-inch cake.
