Shrimp Gumbo

  1. Saute okra in shortening for 10 minutes or until okra appears dry, stirring constantly.
  2. Add onion, garlic, salt, pepper and shrimp.
  3. Cook for 5 minutes.
  4. Add water, tomatoes and bay leaves. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Remove bay leaves and add liquid hot pepper sauce.
  6. Serve over rice.
  7. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
