Autumn Chutney

  1. Peel and chop apples and pears.
  2. Begin cooking them in large saucepan in cider and lemon juice, stirring frequently.
  3. Add sugar and spices as juices come from fruit.
  4. Add remaining ingredients and cook, stirring frequently, at gentle bubble, until moisture cooks off and mixture thickens.
  5. Keeps well for several weeks in the refrigerator.
  6. Freeze or can for longer storage.
  7. Serve warm as a side dish or garnish for beef, ham or pork.
  8. Also makes a good stuffing for pork chops.
