Walnut Bourbon Pie
- 2 sq. unsweetened chocolate
- 1 c. light corn syrup
- 4 Tbsp. butter
- pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 c. black walnut halves and pieces
- 1 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. bourbon
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- 10-inch pastry shell
- whipped cream (optional)
- Preheat the
- oven to 375u0b0.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the chocolate, sugar, corn syrup, bourbon, butter, vanilla and salt over low heat.
- Let the mixture cool, then stir in eggs.
- Place the nuts in the pie shell and pour the chocolate mixture over them.
- Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat to 325u0b0 and bake 30 to 40 minutes longer.
- The filling will still be a bit shaky, but deep golden brown.
- Cool to room temperature.
- Serve plain or with whipped cream or ice cream.
