Spaghetti Sauce

  1. Brown first three ingredients over medium heat until well browned, 20 minutes.
  2. Drain off fat. Add spices.
  3. Stir well.
  4. Add tomato paste, crushed tomatoes and water, mashing tomatoes with a wooden spoon. Bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat. Simmer covered and stir occasionally until thick, about 1 1/2 hours.
