Spaghetti Meat Sauce Deluxe
- 1/4 c. butter
- 1 Tbsp. olive oil
- 1/2 lb. ground chuck
- 1/2 lb. ground pork
- 1/2 lb. ground veal
- 1/2 green pepper, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/2 lb. fresh mushrooms, chopped
- 1 1/2 cans tomato paste
- 1/2 (No. 2) can tomatoes
- 1/2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp. Angostura Bitters
- 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. dry red wine
- salt and pepper
- 1/2 tsp. celery salt
- 2 bay leaves
- dash of cayenne pepper
- In a large kettle, heat butter and olive oil and in this brown the meat.
- Add the green pepper, garlic, onion, mushrooms, tomato paste, tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, Angostura Bitters, sugar, wine, salt and pepper to taste, celery salt, bay leaves and a generous dash of cayenne pepper.
- Cover and cook slowly for at least 3 hours.
